2023-2024 School Year Begins
August 7th, 2023

ONGOING OPEN ENROLLMENT

Mission: We are committed to provide a high quality Christian faith-based preschool education for the people of Faith Community Church and the Fillmore area of Ventura County.

Philosophy: We believe children are a gift of God, created in His image, and they grow in knowledge and stature. We understand that the preschool years are a critical time for development. Thus we are committed to provide a rich environment with a wide range of stimulating activities which nurture the child spiritually, cognitively, socially, physically, and emotionally. We believe in the importance of active hands-on and play based learning for children. We believe each child is a unique God created individual, growing and developing according to his/her God-given internal developmental timetable. We are strongly committed to celebrate the individuality of each child, while demonstrating God’s love to each individually and all collectively.

Curriculum: All methods and curriculum are taught using developmentally appropriate practices (DAP.) The learning environment will allow children to feel a sense of wonder and curiosity. Such methods as exploration, manipulation of objects, physical play and dramatic play are the primary ways of reaching our educational goals. In the adult world substitute the word work for play. Play is a child’s work and is how a child learns best about his/her world. Four year old students will use the ABEKA curriculum which is traditional education developed with a Christian perspective.

Spiritual: Our desire is to introduce children to God the Father, Jesus (God’s Son) and the Holy Spirit through Bible stories, prayer, and practical application of the Bible. We talk about God as a loving Father, Jesus as the Son of God and the Holy Spirit as the comforter in their lives. When they have a strong sense of who they are and that they are loved by God - they will be able to soar in all areas.

Bible time, memorization, praise songs, prayer and chapel is also part of our curriculum helping children learn who God is and how much He loves them.

Cognitive: By providing hands-on learning we will create opportunities in language, pre-math, pre-reading and the basic skills a child needs for future education and life, thus the pre school experience.

Science: We offer science, in which children extend interest and understanding by investigating, experimenting and discovering the world God created.

Social: By providing an educational setting and experiences where children can learn to share, cooperate, show respect for others and make appropriate decisions, guided by a loving, caring staff who set an example - they will learn how to act in society.

Emotional: By helping children feel loved, secure and valuable. A by guiding them to express feelings in acceptable ways we provide an environment where every child is welcome, respected, valued and honored.

Physical: By encouraging development of large and small muscle coordination using age appropriate and developmentally appropriate equipment with activities that are safe and fun. Through outside play and planned activities children will develop large motor skills.

From all these experiences preschoolers will learn how to play productively with other children, move toward independence, develop skills in communication and begin to know God.
